Milo Rau’s new staging of Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman uses the opera as a point of departure for an exploration of German guilt, antisemitism, memory and German-Israeli relations after the Holocaust.

Doron’s work focused on the Israeli and Palestinian dimensions of the project, including research, encounters, filming and the development of a public prologue in Israel.

The production premieres at Deutsche Oper Berlin on 24 October 2026.
